Course Details

This course provides the skills and knowledge required by health professionals to provide evidence-based information, choice facilitation and method-specific contraception options within the Australian primary care context.

The course will equip health professionals with specialised knowledge and includes all contraceptive methods, contraindications, initiation practices, side effects, and management of common issues.

 

Contraceptive consultation frameworks, options for people in specific circumstances, addressing barriers to contraception and coordination of information and referral pathways will also be covered. This course does not teach contraceptive implant or IUD insertion.

Course Structure

This self-paced online course takes approximately 8 hours to complete. Participants can enrol at any time and will have up to one month to finish the course.

Recognition/Accreditation

Participants who complete this course will be issued with a Statement of Completion.

This course is equivalent to 8 hours to meet the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) requirements for CPD.
