Course details

The Clinical Forum for Nurses and Midwives includes a half-day session aimed at registered nurses, enrolled nurses and midwives looking to update and expand their knowledge in reproductive and sexual health.

Led by experienced Family Planning Australia clinicians and subject matter experts, the forum will cover key topics including:

  • Menopause
  • Contraception updates
  • Reproductive coercion
  • Cervical screening
  • STI updates

Designed for nurses and midwives working in primary care and other sexual and reproductive health care services, the sessions provide practical updates through expert lectures, case discussions and interactive Q&A.

A Cervical Screening Comprehensive Skills Training workshop will run in the afternoon. This will require a separate registration and a short online training package to be completed prior to the workshop.

Who should attend

Primary care clinicians including nurses and midwives seeking to enhance their clinical knowledge and skills in reproductive and sexual health.

Course structure

The Clinical Forum for Nurses and Midwives includes a half-day session running from 9:00am–1:00pm tailored for nurses and midwives working in reproductive and sexual health.

The session includes expert presentations, case discussions, and interactive Q&A.

Morning tea and lunch are provided.

An optional workshop will run from 2:00pm–4:00pm and requires a separate registration along with pre learning via an online module:

  • Cervical Screening Comprehensive Skills Training

Recognition/accreditation

Participants who attend the forum sessions will be issued with a Statement of Attendance that can be used as evidence for a self-recorded activity for CPD.

Participants who complete the Cervical Screening Comprehensive Skills Training will be issued with a Statement of Completion.  This course is equivalent to 5 hours  to meet the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) requirements for CPD.
