Course Details
This webinar aims to build the capacity of teachers of Year 7-12 students to provide evidence-based education about contraception. The session enables educators to develop their knowledge of the range of current forms of contraception available, considerations around their use and features resources and practical examples of engaging teaching strategies with an emphasis on creating supportive and inclusive learning environments.
Accompanying materials are provided to support further learning for participants.
Key learning areas include:
- Importance of contraception for individuals and society
- Contraceptive methods and considerations
- Strategies for an inclusive approach to teaching contraceptive awareness
- Health services and reliable sources of information for young people
- Fertility, pregnancy, pregnancy options and support for young parents
Course fees are funded by NSW Health. No cost to eligible NSW participants.

- Years 7-12 PDHPE teachers and coordinators
- Staff in wellbeing and support roles
- School counsellors, year advisors and staff in leadership roles
- Presenters of Stage 6 health, wellbeing and safety programs such as Life Ready
- Casual teachers and pre-service teachers
Course structure
This 1.5-hour webinar is an interactive learning experience which includes opportunities for discussion and activities.
Eligibility/Prerequisite
Teachers working with students in Years 7-12 or currently working towards a qualification to do so, as well as staff working in school welfare, health, wellbeing and leadership roles.
Course cost
Course fees are funded by NSW Health. No cost to eligible NSW participants.

Recognition/Accreditation
